When I first envisioned Savor the Light, I knew I didn’t want to create just another food photography workshop. I wanted to offer something more meaningful—a transformative, soulful experience designed to inspire creative growth and real connection.

After years of attending workshops that often felt rushed, impersonal, or overly technical, I decided to do things differently. I dreamed of a space that blended natural light food photography, storytelling, and soulful community in one beautiful, intentional day.

For six weeks, I built the experience from the ground up—from designing the landing page to running my first Facebook ads. But more than the technical prep, I focused on crafting a workshop that embodied how I work as a San Francisco Bay Area Culinary Photographer: thoughtfully, organically, and with deep attention to light, texture, and narrative.

A Magical Gathering of Creatives

With that intention in mind, I put the call out to the universe—and six incredible creatives answered. Though we had never met, each participant felt like the perfect fit. We gathered in the warm, intimate space of Bouche SF, a charming French restaurant in the heart of San Francisco. My pictures of Bouche here!

It became the perfect setting to explore the subtleties of natural light, food styling, and visual storytelling. We spent the day experimenting with shadows, layering textures, capturing movement, and refining composition. Whether we were recreating a cookbook layout or designing an ad-style hero shot, the energy remained grounded in intention and presence.

As a San Jose Food Photographer, I’m usually behind the camera crafting images that capture not just the dish, but the mood and magic behind it. During Savor the Light, I had the honor of stepping into the role of educator and guide—and it was deeply fulfilling.

The Heart Behind the Lens

The workshop wasn’t just about learning techniques. It was about reconnecting with our creative purpose. Each attendee brought their own story and left with more than new skills. They left with confidence, clarity, and connection—and so did I.

Savor The Light reminded me of why I fell in love with this work in the first place. It’s about more than food photography. It’s about building community, sharing knowledge, and helping others find their own voice.

A Personal Note

I don’t think I have ever done anything that has felt so joyful in my life. I walked away from that workshop with a deep sense of purpose, fulfillment, and happiness. It was a dream come true—one that reminded me that when we align our creativity with service, magic happens.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who made it possible.
